About our Extra Fine Merino Wool

The secret of our blankets starts with the raw material: Italian spun extra fine Merino wool, Selected with the utmost care, choosing only parts with a superb level of fineness and pureness. This is the only way to obtain the incredibly soft, zero itch yarn that gives luminosity and fastness to every colour nuance. It makes the ‘crème de la crème’ of textiles.

Merino sheep, grazing the highlands of New Zealand, have developed the softest and finest fleece known to man, where they can withstand temperatures ranging from -20 C° up to +35 C° thanks to the unique traits of their Wool, These sheep were domesticated about 10000 years ago, so we’re grateful to our ancestors who were smart and wise enough to pass down this knowledge.

Our wool is gently treated to be machine washable (see care label), because we know all baby products inevitably need washing by parents/carers who are too tired to be trusted with hand washing!

Why we love Merino Wool?

Merino wool creates a natural climate regulating system. The breathing qualities of the Merino wool hold great advantages to react to changes in body temperature and environment. Basically, keeping you nice and cool when it’s hot, nice and warm when it’s cold. It’s light enough for a summer’s day, yet warm and comfortable for winter layering.
This is so important because babies & toddlers cannot adapt to temperature changes as well as adults can.
This makes Merino wool the perfect choice for little ones to use all-year-round.

Small spills run right off, and wool fibres do not easily trap oils or dirt. You can spot wash it if something has been spilt on it. And most excitingly, Merino wool has antimicrobial properties so doesn't need to be washed as often. This means less laundry hassle!

Merino wool is naturally antibacterial thanks to the moisture absorbing core and moisture repelling exterior, so there is nowhere for those moisture loving microbes to grow!

When we say wool, you think Grandma’s-Itchy-Christmas-Sweater? We got good news for you! Our extra fine Merino wool makes this blanket incredibly soft and luxuriously gentle for the little ones. At less than one-fifth the width of human hair, these fine wool fibres are so thin that they’re completely no itch. Because the fibres are so soft, they bend when they come into contact with the skin creating a gentle sensation. We call it ‘cashwool’, as it’s as soft as cashmere, but more durable and versatile. What that means? Our merino wool is more flexible, bends softly against your skin and doesn’t itch one bit.

Merino wool does miracles for stylish little ones with sensitive skin. Research shows that merino wool reduces adult and infant eczema symptoms impressively compared to other fabrics because of its breathability and keeping skin dry. This hypoallergenic, super smooth fibre treats your skin softly and with great care, and also means no room for dust mites. It’s anti static so it naturally repels dust, good news since dust mites is the major cause of allergy and asthma suffering.

Our wool is gently treated to be machine washable. Use them lots, then machine wash them whenever, Good for mums and dads!

Merino wool is a surprisingly fine fabric, that releases water easily means it’s dry long before your other garments are. Just put it in the machine, dry flat and use it again in no time! Perfect for families racing against the clock!

Wool can withstand the rigours of daily use. Wool fibres can bend over 20,000 times, where as cotton can only take 3,000. But its durability doesn’t only apply to use: wool’s ability to withstand wear while continuing to keep its shape and look good makes it a top choice for baby products!

Great news for all parents who can’t get enough of baby smell: merino wool absorbs all odour molecules and only releases them upon washing. Merino wool is naturally resistant to odours, and pilling.
On top of that, you don’t need to wash it each time you use it, , a little airing will freshen it up. Sounds strange but it works. Yesss, also saves energy; good for you, good for the environment!

The elastic properties of the merino fibre make it extremely wrinkle resistant. If you lay flat your blanket to dry, ironing becomes optional. It’s the ultimate on-the-go companion, it springs back to its original shape every time. No annoying wrinkle damage!

The unique fire and UV resistant properties of merino wool make it a truly super safe
option for little ones.

Merino is naturally flame resistant and self-extinguishing, When exposed to a naked flame merino will slightly char, and then just go out.... Unlike synthetic materials which will melt and stick to skin. For this very reason, merino base layers are the first choice of firefighters and military personnel. So rest assured!

The natural UV barrier (between 30 and 50 UPF, depending on the thickness) of Merino fabric keeps you safe from damaging UV radiation from the sun – unlike synthetics and cotton.
Helloooo, worry-free summer times!
